Biosphere parks are regions that are evaluated using international criteria and then certified in the framework of the UNESCO programme, „Man and Biosphere“. The UNESCO Biosphere park programme is a comprehensive concept for well balanced development in a region. It can be depicted as a protection and development instrument, because it combines protection and utilization by man. Worldwide there are over 500 Biosphere parks in more than 100 countries. The Great Walser Valley has belonged to the international network of Biosphere parks since November, 2000. Our Motto is: „Living in harmony with nature - utilizing nature without harming it. |
