Man and Biosphere

The programme, „Man and Biosphere“ or MAB, was brought to life in the 1970‘s by UNESCO. This programme is concerned with protecting, animals, plants and micro-organisms and at the same time, addressing the needs of man. The objective of the MAB programme is to find a balance between the protection of bio diversity and economic and social development, as well as the conservation of cultural values. Biosphere reserves in the model region are intended to implement these goals in a practical way.
