One of the features of Silver Fir timber is its resistance to acids and bases. This is the reason why receptacles made from Silver Fir wood were used in the chemical industry in the past. Apart from that, moulds used for making cheese were also made from Silver Fir wood. The wood has proven itself to be safe for foods, in fact, cutting boards from our region, made from Silver Fir wood are exported to as far away as Japan. This is proof of the special qualities of the Silver Fir. Earth and water construction are two other areas where the Silver Fir is used. When the wood is completely covered with earth or water, Silver Fir is practically non-perishable. Examples of this are the walls made to stabilize embankments as well as various water constructions. Because of their excellent durability in the soil, Silver Fir posts are perfect for piloting when building houses. |
