The Liessenbach Bridge is borne by a wooden truss with three supports. A saddleback roof and the wooden plank shield, made from Silver Fir protect the construction.

It spans over 20 metres with an unusually generous width for a wooden bridge, of over 3 metres. With an overhead clearance of 2.90 m. there is ample headroom for today‘s vehicles. The Liessenbach Bridge has undergone numerous repairs and reinforcements during the past few years, which is shown in the use of metal nails and clamps. In contrast to the Komma bridge, the wooden joints here meet pre-industrial standards. The Liessenbach bridge shows how static characteristics of the materials can be used for optimal construction. This explains the complete reliability performance of the bridge up until today. More proof for the longevity of the Silver Fir. |
